That time of the year is upon us – people are spending more time outdoors and being active. While both can do tremendous things for our overall well-being, sometimes accidents happen. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 20% of people will experience some sort of trauma to their teeth at some point in their lives.
Unfortunately, sometimes those accidents result in mouth trauma and tooth loss. If this happens, our number one goal is to restore the health and aesthetics of the mouth. Dental implants are often recommended to accomplish this goal.
What is a dental implant?
In the simplest terms, a dental implant is a permanent replacement for a lost tooth. The implant is placed in the jaw, where it will fuse with surrounding tissue. This acts as an artificial root. Next, a crown is placed on top to create a replacement artificial tooth.
