Using a perioscope, we are able to treat periodontitis without surgery. If you have moderate to severe gum disease, we can treat most patients without the need for surgery.
What is a Perioscope?
A perioscope is a small, high-tech camera. It enables us to closely examine the inflamed pockets between your gums and teeth. The images from the perioscope are viewed on a monitor. This gives us the ability to see calculus, or hardened plaque, that is buried between the teeth, where we could not see it with a dental loupe.
Using the perioscope and microsurgical instruments, we can reach deep into pockets to remove calculus that is causing inflamed gums.
Our patients find that treatment with the periscope is very comfortable and doesn’t leave them with the discomfort that can be associated with surgical procedures.
